The 2005 America's Cup season : the year of the roadshow The 2005 season is a year of travelling for the 32nd America's Cup, with racing in Valencia, Malmö-Skåne and Trapani, Sicily. The locations and conditions were different, but one thing remained constant throughout : the dominance of Alinghi. The Swiss team won five of the six Acts, and claimed the season championship over Emirates Team New Zealand and BMW ORACLE Racing. Among the teams making impressive strides this year were +39 Challenge, K-Challenge and especially in Trapani, Shosholoza who have shown improvement in each Act they've sailed, leaping up into fifth place to close the season.
The Trapani Louis Vuitton Acts marked a milestone off the water as well. The one-millionth visitor to the America's Cup Park since the beginning of racing in Marseille was welcomed in Sicily. The Trapani Acts were a popular draw; nearly 500 000 came to visit the AC Park and share in the spirit of the America's Cup.
